The management and staff of 20 South are experts in client service. Each team member has been selected based on their experience, not only in food service, but for their unique abilities to act in concert with the team as a whole and of the needs of our clients. Their pasts include employment in psychology and sociology, hospitality and fine dining including the C&O Restaurant, Keswick Hall, and Wintergreen Resort, and of course many years catering and bartending at the most memorable events in and around Charlottesville.  Additionally they have professional communication training, leadership training, and have interned or been mentored by the best chefs and management in the area.

General Manager and Client Services

Jim Puopolo has been with 20 South since 2004. He started here as a bartender under Pierce McCleskey and soon moved through every available role. His experience in each position gives him a 360° perspective on planning and executing high level events. Prior to 20 South he worked at several other catering companies as a server and bartender.  Jim grew up at the C&O restaurant, gleaning much restaurant experience before most of his contemporaries were even aware of the restaurant world.  He spent time in the service industry in many local businesses gaining years of experience.  He has traveled as a production manager training personnel across the U.S. Jim is known for his extraordinary attention to detail, tireless work ethic and the care bestowed on his clients and employees. President/Director and Client SErvices

Summer Puopolo has been with 20 South since 2011. She is an expert in client service. Along with her client responsibilities, she handles human resources – seeking out and grooming the best talent in the service industry; her degree in Psychology prepares her for both roles. She is patient and has strong character.  She has developed skills under the tutelage of Keswick Hall’s Craig Hartman, and the expertise of Mike Lambardo at Rosenfeld’s Bagels in Newton, Ma.  Her experience in the hospitality industry includes time both in the front-of-house and behind the scenes. She is known for her ability to deeply see from the perspective of the client: the bride, the mother of the bride, the father, as well as the needs of the guests.

Many of our staff have been with us for years. We are pleased to include these folks as both professionals and friends.
